GB Dragon Boat Youth Team and St Neots Cool Runnings

On Saturday 10 November, Cllr Barry Chapman, Mayor of St Neots visited the GB Youth Dragon Boat Team at St Neots Rowing Club during one of their training sessions.
Dan Clarke, Matty Richardson, Cllr Barry Chapman, Nick Clarke
The GB under 18 and under 23 crews used St Neots as a training venue this weekend, St Neots can now be proudly classed as one of the three training venues for the GB under 18 and under 23 squads.
All four of our junior members took part in their first session with the squads and impressed head coach Matty Richardson, Matty is confident that if the guys continue to develop they will have a very good shot at reprersenting GB at the European Championships this coming July in Szeged, Hungary.  Their names are Brandon Sinclair, Jordan Vidler, Talia Melisi and Mollie Baker, all aged between 12 and 16.
Dan Clarke said ''I as crew manager am very proud as to what has happened this weekend, my 4 juniors have been outstanding and proved themselves to be a real asset to our club. The profile of our sport will be raised locally and hopefully this will result in an increase of interest from our towns youngsters. We as a club promise to support our youngsters every step of the way and are confident that we will see them represent Great Britain, St Neots and our club at future international events. As a self funded club we sadly do not have all the facilities that will give the 4 guys and girls the optimum chance of qualifiying for seats in the squad at our disposal, so we will have to travel to accommodate this until we get the much needed funds to purchase the equiptment to be used at our own club.''

We are always looking to recruit new members, if any one is interested they can find out more on our website which is www.coolrunningsdbc.com  We are also starting to seek local sponsorship to develop the club further

If you want more information about dragon boating you can review our sports official website at www.dragonboat.org.uk
